Chennai, Sept. 26: Mr. Gopal Srinivasan, director, TVS-Electronics Ltd, on
Tuesday said that persons who want to become entrepreneurs should not to venture into business if they do not have a passion for it. Inaugurating the Innovator
Identification Camp-2006. organized by the Vellore Institute of Technology in association with the Department of Science and Technology, here, he said, "Entrepreneurs should be ready to work any time without
any hesitation. They should be ready to sacrifice their sleep and work to achieve
their goal." Mr.Srinivasan said entrepreneurship was the source of vitality for the growth of the country
and it depends on the leverage of small towns. "The country has sufficient entrepreneurship and nowhere
in the world is so much innovation taking place;' he added. Mr H.K. Mittal, advisor and head. National Science
and Technology Enterprise Development Board, complained that the Indian educational system was designed to promote
entrepreneurship. "Initiatives like this can promote entrepreneurship in the country;' he said.
Mr G.V Sampath,
pro-chancellor, Vellore Institute of Technology, said the Indian education system has been designed in such a way
that it produces only graduates but not entrepreneurs. "The bottleneck is the mindset of students and their parents, which needs to be changed," he said. The Innovator
Identification Camp is an initiative to promote
incubator development by the World Bank.
