Chennai, Sept 26:
An innovator identification camp conducted by the Technology Business Incubator - Vellore Institute of Technology (Deemed University) (TBI-VIT) was inaugurated by Gopal Srinivasan, Director, TVS Ele ctronics, here on Tuesday. The camp would identify 15 entrepreneurs/ innovators from around 300 expected participants and offer them complete support through an accelerated incubation process. It would provide innovators a forum to translate their dreams into ventures. Apart from the camp at Chennai, one would be held in Coimbatore on October 7. "Indian entrepreneurship is being celebrated world over and in India entrepreneurship is the life line with around three million business establishments functioning," said Gopal Srinivasan. An entrepreneur should have a mind which is the idea,incubation,eco-system,a body which is the team which can work for him with dedication and a heart which is nothing but the passion for what he is doing. If you are not hugely passionate about something, don't even try doing it, he added.
According to G V Sampath, pro-chancellor, VIT, "When you start looking change as an opportunity for growth you can step into your own business; when you look change as a threat you are bound to look for a secure job." He added, only attitude makes you to reach great altitudes in a short span of time. VIT-TBI has been selected by infoDev (an agency founded and supported by the World Bank) to execute a project under its incubator development initiative.
The programme is to promote entrepreneurship, incubating start up ventures and offering technology development services to firms. Funded jointly by the Department of Science and Technology and Vellore Institute of Technology, TBI has state of the art machinery, equipment, computing facilities, communication networks, start up friendly infrastructure, individual incubation cells with common resource sharing arrangements thus supporting budding entrepreneurs.
According to H K Mittal, Advisor and Head, National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), entrepreneurship, be it small or large, is celebrated all over the world.
