Entrepreneurship is We source of vitality for the growth of the country
and it depends on the leverage of small towns, Gopal Srinivasan,
director, TVS Electronics Ltd, said today.
He was inaugurating the 'Innovator Identification Camp 2006', organised
by the Vellore Institute of Technology (Deemed University) in association
with the Department of Science and Technology, government of India, here.
Srinivasan said the country has sufficient entrepreneurship and
nowhere in the world, is so much innovation taking place. Passion is
the base for the success of entrepreneurship.
Along with passion, team spirit, ideas and technology also play a key role for
the development of business, he added. Addressing the gathering, H K Mittal,
advisor and head, National Science and Technology Enterprise
Development Board, government of India, lamented the Indian educational system was not
promoting entrepreneurship. 'Initiatives like this can promote entrepreneurship in the country,' he
said.
G V Sampath, pro-chancellor, Vellore Institute of Technology, observed, that the Indian educational
system is designed only to produce professionals. It is the time to promote
a new approach, which facilitates employment developers instead of
employment seekers. The 'Innovator Identification Camp
2006', is an initiative to promote incubator development by the World
Bank. The next innovator camp would be held in Coimbatore and around 300
candidates are expected to participate. P Radhakrishnan, vice-chancellor, Vellore Institute of Technology, said, the programme would facilitate intensive business coaching, training and mentoring for a period of three
months.
